Hadeed is proud to announce that Dr. Mohamed Bahgat, Chief Scientist in the R&D department, has secured 1st place in the prestigious Arab Iron and Steel Union Award for Best Research. Dr. Bahgat’s groundbreaking study, “Novel Design of Iron Ore Pellets”, was recognized during the 17th Arab Steel Summit held in Doha, Qatar, on October 15, 2024. His research was selected among 70 other submissions from the steel industry and academic institutions across the Arab world.

The research, developed in Hadeed’s state-of-the-art laboratories, focuses on increasing the productivity of iron pellets during the direct reduction process. The study introduces a unique composition of iron oxide pellets with carbon added to the core in a specific ratio. This innovation enhances the porosity of the pellets, speeding up the reduction process and significantly boosting furnace productivity.

Notably, Dr. Bahgat’s research holds patents in both the United States and China, reflecting Hadeed’s commitment to innovation and continuous support for creative talents.
